Theory of change

Young people’s educational and career choices are influenced by the opportunities, information and networks available to them. By providing early, meaningful exposure to the healthcare sector, Sectordagen Zorg helps reduce these differences in access to career information. This can increase students’ awareness of their own possibilities, strengthen their confidence in exploring unfamiliar sectors and ultimately contribute to more equitable access to education and career opportunities.

Providing meaningful exposure to the healthcare sector

Sectordagen Zorg is an interactive career-orientation programme that introduces primary and secondary school students to the healthcare sector. Students meet healthcare professionals and explore different professions through practical, engaging activities that bring the sector to life. The programme is delivered in collaboration with healthcare organisations, allowing students to experience the diversity of roles within the sector and learn about different educational pathways. JINC works with schools in Rotterdam, with a particular focus on reaching students in neighbourhoods facing socioeconomic challenges. The programme makes the healthcare sector tangible and helps students discover opportunities they may not otherwise encounter.

Impact

770 students are able to experience a Sectordag Zorg thanks to support provided by the Alphatron Foundation.
